In Conclusion…

Hello fans. It’s been quite a while since I wrote any kind of substantial post here. TRIDENTFEST just sort of took over my damn life. It’s all over now though (for the moment anyway.) We ended up showing eight shorts in total to another sizeable crowd, so thanks to everyone that came. Eight films. Made in ONE MONTH. No mean feat by any standards. We even had two we couldn’t finish (due to technical reasons and erm, only having one month!) So I would like to impart some lessons that we learned from this experience …

  1. Don’t give yourself such a short amount of time to make an entire program of films. You still need about a month to organise and promote your event. You may die.
  2. Shooting a Zombie crowd scene in a public street is a nightmare. Cars park in your shot, or worse still, move their car out of shot mid shoot. Then you have to go back and film it all again.
  3. Filming a shouty Zombie flick at 11:00am on a Sunday morning in a residential area WILL get you in trouble with the Police.
  4. Remember to press record. You’re laughing but you’ll do it one day. Then we’ll laugh at you.
  5. Don’t presume that the camera is on auto focus.
  6. Using state-of-the-art HD cameras that save all your footage on a tiny little SD card is awesome. But if you’ve never used one of these things you are going to be in a world of pain when it comes to getting that footage off the camera.
  7. Another problem with making films in a month with the same group of friends is that you can’t shoot your films simultaneously. Duuuuuh.

There you go. Wisdom imparted. All the films will eventually be on the Project Trident channel, so keep checking back. Now let’s get back to making films for FUN and for FRIENDS!

I also would like to do some drawing maybe?
